I believe Mr. Clarke means well. I wouldn't call him a miserable or toxic person. He's been very calm and respectful throughout this process.

He's standing by his convictions just like those who disagree with him. I personally believe he's fighting a losing battle and should find another mission, but at least he hasn't been an angry zealot about it.

I AGREE THAT THIS GUY IS A MISERABLE PERSON.

MUST BE SAD THAT HE HAS NOTHING BETTER TO DO

THAN GRIPE ABOUT RELIGION. HE MUST BE A REAL JOY

TO BE AROUND! BAH HUMBUG!

IF HE DOESN'T ENJOY THE TOWN'S RELIGION THEME, THEN WHY DOES HE LIVE THERE? I GREW UP KNOWING

THAT FRANKENMUTH WAS SOME PLACE THAT I COULD GO

TO GET SOME SPIRITUALITY, AND THAT PEOPLE THERE KNEW THE TRUE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS.

GIVE UP MR, AS THERE ARE TOO MANY CHRISTIANS

WHO DISAGREE WITH YOU THAT HAVE GOD ON THEIR SIDE!

This guy has some major issues with his life. If he was to watch something on tv he did not agree with would he also take the tv channel to court or would he do something simple like turn the channel. This guy does not make sense and wants to make a name for himself. Its obvious he likes the attention he is getting so we should not give it to him. Another option is for him to move because believe me buddy no one would care in fact Im sure you could find alot of people to help.

Cross has been there for 32 years and he just now notices it. How offensive could that be?

I have a sincere question for my fellow Christians: Would you be as cool with the expression of religious freedom if there were Budhha statues, Stars of David or Baha'i symbols placed in the city park? I'm not being snarky. I really would like to know if your idealogy transcends faith/denomination.

Rather than deal with the legal issues involved here, I post some questions as a matter of good taste and reasonable conduct:

Where in Christian scriptures does it command believers to erect crosses or any other symbols of their religion everywhere? It's not wrong to display symbols, but it's also not a mandate of the Christian faith that you must display a cross either.

Weren't Christians instructed by Christ to pray to their Father in secret and act with humililty? At what point does a cross (or many crosses) become excessive, overbearing, or just plain obnoxious? (and anything but humilty?)

If you're going to display a cross, make sure you're doing it for the right reasons. I wonder whether some people are more motivated to be defiant and even vindictive rather than acting out of genuine spiritual motivations based upon the quotes and comments I've read.
